Two-time winner of the Lieutenant Governor's Award for the Arts!
Update: The Armed Man was rated "Best Choral Concert of the Year" by James Reaney of the London Free Press. Congratulations to all involved!
Dear Friends,
Fanshawe Chorus London, the Gerald Fagan Singers and Concert Players Orchestra are about to embark on what will be one of the most significant and inspiring seasons in the history of our organization.
From the London premiere of the most talked about new work in decades, to welcoming back a distinguished great friend, this season will bring unforgettable performances.
We begin in November with Karl Jenkins’ recent work, ‘The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace’. Members of many faiths and cultures help to make the hauntingly beautiful music even more profound.
The Christmas season offers us a chance to celebrate in several ways. We present Handel's popular masterpiece, the 'Messiah', in a large-choir performance by Fanshawe Chorus London and a more intimate interpretation by the Gerald Fagan Singers. The Fagan Singers will also present the third in their trilogy of favourite sections of Bach Christmas Cantatas and, of course, the children’s concert, ‘Christmas Celebration’ will rekindle our belief in the magic of the season.
In February, the Fagan Singers will launch their latest compact disc in a concert at Windermere on the Mount. The selections on the CD are an eclectic mix of all that is great about the a cappella choral music repertoire.
On Good Friday, the forces join to present Mozart’s masterpiece, the C Minor Mass. Our tradition is to make much of the significance of the Christian Holy Week, and Mozart’s Mass achieves that.
In June, the traditional Garden Party, ‘Strawberries and Champagne in the Country’ rounds out the year. This fundraiser celebrates our organization with the Fagan Singers as well as a Celebrity Choir taking part.
As an arts organization, we take great pride in fostering choral music in this city. Over the course of the season we will include no less than six groups of young singers in our performances. That has become a significant part of our mandate.
Sincere thanks to our past audiences for the loyal support. I encourage everyone – new audience members and old friends - to join us this season as we make simply beautiful music.
