Concert Players Orchestra

Concert Players Orchestra (detail)

The Concert Players Orchestra was formed for the 1983–1984 Season to play solely with singers. Drawn from the finest professional players from this part of Ontario, they bring to each concert an understanding of performance practices for choirs and solo singers – something not often present in symphonic ensembles.

London is blessed with a solid base of fine instrumentalists, and it is from this great pool of talent that members are chosen. Over half of the players have been with us for over ten years and eight were in our very first orchestra. Concert Master Robert Skelton has worked diligently with Maestro Fagan since the very beginning to ensure that the highest caliber of performance is presented at each concert.

The Concert Players Orchestra is probably one of the most unique orchestras in Canada as they are not a 'pick up' group. Players are contracted by the Chorus Board for the complete season. They may, in fact, be the only orchestra in Canada owned and operated by a choral organization.

It has been a pleasure for our singers to be associated with these fine musicians for the past 27 years and we look forward to future performances.
