Dear Friends,

Ecstatic does not begin to describe my feelings about ‘A Choral Extravaganza’ – our unbelievable 2010-2011 season planned for you.

At the five-star opening Gala featuring performances of ‘The Hour has Come’ by Glick and the Poulenc ‘Gloria’, we add to the festivities with the launch of our three-CD set that same evening. You will hear bits of the Mozart Grand Mass, some Bach choruses and some beautiful unaccompanied masterpieces. What a beginning!

As well as the two cherished annual performances of Handel’s ‘Messiah’, with soloists Leslie Fagan, Anita Kraus, John Tessier and Todd Wieczorek, our Christmas season will include the delightful family concert, ‘A London Christmas’. Remember that it follows immediately after the Lights Ceremony at Victoria Park, and has become a musical institution incorporating children, youth and adults in performance at Centennial Hall.

The Fagan Singers return to the acoustic splendour and spiritual ambience of Windermere for ’Christmas in Canada’. This all-Canadian concert premieres music by such iconic composers as Carrière, Holman, Chapman, Vanderhoek, Togni and Patriquin.

Our ‘Choral Extravaganza’ continues in the spring with ‘The French Connection’, featuring rarely performed masterpieces by Delibes, Saint-Saëns, Bizet, Ravel, Debussy, Fauré and Lili Boulanger. Add to the mix some new and exuberant arrangements of French Canadian folk songs – we should have some great fun

With Good Friday in mid April, comes the monumental Verdi ‘Requiem’. We are pleased to welcome Christiane Riel, soprano and Kurt Lehmann, tenor, and we welcome back the great talents of Sandra Graham, alto and John Avey, bass.

We usher summer in by closing our ‘Choral Extravaganza’ with ‘Strawberries and Champagne in the Country’. Join the Fagan Singers and guests the Celebrity Singers as the VanderLaan family opens their country estate to an afternoon of champagne, food, great singing and a silent auction. All of this - in a bucolic setting amidst towering trees and spacious lawns.

This, my friends is our 2010-2011 season. I trust you understand my excitement and why it is indeed ‘A Choral Extravaganza’.

Come join us!
